Mahmud “MUDDY”

My name is Mahmud, and/or MUDDY for short, known on Instagram as MahmudTheMedium. I am an artist from Chicago and I have been creating art for most of my life. My creative journey started with pencils, then markers, which then led to spray paint, and then acrylics. I primarily paint on canvas with acrylics, I create mixed media illustrations on bristol paper, as well as digital artwork. When doing larger scale murals I use more spray paint in addition to acrylic paint. Within my art, I have developed a few original characters that represent a constant battle between negative and positive energy. My characters are used to depict emotions both good and bad, internal struggles, as well as internal victories. I strive to tell new and/or continued stories with each new piece that I create. My art is very narrative driven and different pieces tend to represent panels within the same story board. The world that I have created through art is called Onion City, a parallel world to Chicago as well as other places that I have lived in and traveled to. My inspirations and influences stem from where I grew up, my travels, music, anime, and film. If something can evoke an emotion out of me, chances are it will inspire my next piece in some way, shape, or form.

Thanks for checking me out, and welcome to my world of Onion City!
